The 8th International Workshop on Application of Field Programmable Gate Arrays in Nuclear Power Plants was held on October 13-16, 2015, in Shanghai, China. The meeting was hosted by the State Nuclear Power Automation System Engineering Company (SNPAS), in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA), co-organized with SunPort SA, and co-sponsored by the China Nuclear Control System Engineering Corporation (CNCS). The agenda of the 4-day workshop included 20 technical presentations, 3 panel discussions, and 5 vendor exhibits. Presentation files, meeting documents, and photos can be downloaded below.

The event was attended by representatives of utilities, academia, regulatory, engineering and research organizations from a variety of countries, such as Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Ukraine and the USA.

Experts from the above organizations delivered presentations on a wide variety of topics, including applications, development, testing, reliability analysis and licensing of FPGA based projects; these, as well as the panel discussions provided an excellent venue for the exchange of information on the application of FPGA technology in the nuclear field.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 2016, and its location will be announced early next year.
